Merry Christmas, and a farewell

Wishing everyone who celebrates a very Merry Christmas! This whole year has flown by and I've loved sharing some of it with you!!! I've just finished putting all of my girls gifts around the tree and I'm not sure who is more excited... the two of them up dreaming in their beds or me... who can't wait to see their faces tomorrow morning (though I do wish it would be after 7am LOL)

This post is a bit bitter sweet for me, our 6 month design team term has come to an end with Trendy Twine... and while I was honored to be asked to come back for another 6 months I ended up having to decline. I've absolutely LOVED working with Lesley & all the ladies on the design team, and there simply is no better twine in my opinion however as those of you who follow me on facebook know I've been bitten by the sawdust bug lately. I've decided to branch off a bit into wood working (my new scroll saw is awesome) and with my youngest giving up naps my free time is limited now so I've decided it's in everyone's best interest if I step down. I'm really going to miss being part of the team but you can be sure I'll still be using and posting about Trendy Twine here on my blog!

Now with that sort of sad news behind us... let's see my final project as a member of the design team! Head over to the Trendy Twine Blog to see all the cute Christmas cards the design team made!
I've made a snow globe shaker card! The card file is from Silhouette and it goes together super easily, you just cut your top layer from acetate and then glue it around your base, I added some great faux snow glitter to mine & a fun pop dotted snowman. I used my favorite of the Christmas colors, the limited edition Candy Cane Trendy Twine (which is still on sale!) to add the perfect finishing touch with a cute little double loop bow.
If you haven't entered the challenge yet for December you still have some time left, head on over and link up a project for your chance to win some twine of your own right HERE.

As always, thank you for looking & for your comments!

3d Winter Art

I love Patricia Zapata's (A Little Hut) style & files. I was so thrilled when I saw she sold her designs through Silhouette and have loved every one I've made. Her wall art projects are my favorite. They are really impressive when done yet so easy to make, my favorite type!

I wanted to make something that worked not only for Christmas for also for the rest of winter and fell in love with her cardinal in birch tree design.
It was super fast and easy to cut with my Cameo and glue together. I used my favorite shimmery white Bling cardstock for the frame (hard to photograph but so pretty in person, reminds me of frosty sparkly snow) and American Crafts for the rest (except the back panel which was a print & cut). Of course my bird needed a tiny bit of bling so he got a rhinestone eye :)
I love the dimension of these files!

I'm already looking at these files and thinking of how I can use the scroll saw to cut them with wood! So many ideas, so little time!

Thanks for looking!

Snowman Ornament w/ Trendy Twine

Hi Everyone! Less then a week until Christmas, I'm not sure who's more excited.... me or my girls. I love watching them open their gifts on Christmas morning. Another of my favorite things to do is admire our Christmas tree, and to try and choose my favorite ornament.... of course I never can, each one is special to me and this year I wanted to make one to signify the great friendships I've made as part of the Trendy Twine DT.

So my personal project this month is an ornament for our tree!

We're featuring two great colors of twine for December, Candy Cane & Holly Berry (and both are on sale!)  On my project I used Candy Cane. The ornament started out as a plain glass one purchased from Michaels, I used the pledge floor polish technique to apply a super fine white glitter by Martha Stewart to the inside (it was hard to photograph, it's a very true white glitter that looks like frost in person, perfect for a snowman). I cut the face out of vinyl. The best part though is of course his little Trendy Twine hat! I started with some red line tape on the ornament so the twine would have something to really grip on, and then I used glue spread around the rest of the area and simply wrapped the twine around slowly to keep it laying flat. Of course he needed a little pompom and I made one using my clover mini pompom maker. Doesn't he make you smile?

If you haven't linked up to the December Trendy Twine Challenge make sure you do, the price is a 160yd spool of your choice! Click right here to read all the rules & link up: December Tag Challenge

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

Merry & Bright - Snowman Tag

Ready? Wait for it... wait.... wait.... OH MY GOODNESS I CAN'T BELIVE IT'S ALREADY DECEMBER!!! No seriously, I've said the same thing the past few months but it's true, where has this whole year gone? We celebrate Hanukkah and Christmas in our family so I have even more to do and less time to get it done. At least the tree is up :) Not the best photo but you get the idea (Aliya was upstairs)
With a new month comes one of my favorite things, new featured Trendy Twine colors, new amazing DT projects for your eye candy, and of course a new challenge for you to enter and possibly win some Trendy Twine of your very own! Extra special this month is that we have TWO colors featured (and yes, that means both are on sale WOOHOO) We're featuring Candy Cane & Holly Berry, both full spools and a special holiday mini pack are available in the store right HERE.
Our challenge this month is to make a tag, featuring glitter, a snowman, and Trendy Twine. I don't make many tags so I find them quite challenging, I also wanted to really go outside of the tag box with mine. I think I did just that :)
My tag base is acetate (I use clear report covers purchased on Amazon). I cut the tag shape with my Cameo and then I embossed it in my Big Shot. After it was embossed I used Stickles glitter and carefully filled in all of the snowflakes so they would sparkle. My snowman had to be special too, so I made him 3d! He's from the Silhouette store and I cut him out of glitter cardstock. I hand cut his little orange nose and his eyes are actually black 1/2 pearls. What does every snowman need? Well a braided Candy Cane Trendy Twine scarf of course! He also needed his hat, how about a 3d hat? I also found this 3d hat in the Silhouette store, I assembled it and then I cut it right in 1/2 so that I could use it on my tag, of course his hat needed a bit of Trendy Twine as well. I used a print & cut tag from Silhouette and then I cut 2 snowflakes out of acetate and ran them through my Xyron and glittered them up to layer on my tag. Lastly I colored some ribbon and added some final Trendy Twine to top off my tag.
I love his 1/2 of a 3d hat
see nice and flat on the back
Do you like it? I think I might just have to start making more tags, this ended up being so fun to make!  Now head on over to the Trendy Twine blog and view all of the other amazing tags today, and the other 1/2 of the design teams tags tomorrow. Then make your own and enter the challenge too!
